INTRODUCTION

Nuclear medicine physicists are a very important profession in the field of medicine, they integrate nuclear medicine and physics, and they are also the bridge between the regulatory authorities and the nuclear medicine department, as well as the link between nuclear medicine equipment and clinicians. In a modern hospital, a medical physicist with knowledge of modern medical physics is indispensable. They need to work closely with physicians to assist them in making better use of nuclear medicine equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Through their expertise and skills, nuclear medicine physicists make an important contribution to improving the quality and efficiency of medical care.
In order to meet the needs of the development of the industry and lead the cutting-edge development of nuclear medicine, the Nuclear Medicine Branch of the China National Health Association, the Training Department of the China National Health Association, the School of Nuclear Science and Technology of the University of South China, the First Hospital of Jiaxing City and Zhejiang Repair Medical Technology Co., Ltd. jointly organized and launched a medical physicist (nuclear medicine) training course, which has been praised by the majority of students. With the enthusiastic appeal of the trainees, the "Third Medical Physicist (Nuclear Medicine) Offline Training Course" was held at the Medical Physicist (Nuclear Medicine) Training Base from December 1 to 3, 2023.
The event was presided over by Professor Zhou Qinghe, member of the Party Committee and vice president of Jiaxing First Hospital. Zhao Yanhong, President of the Nuclear Medicine Branch of the Chinese National Health Association; Professor Wang Jing, Chairman of the Nuclear Medicine Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, Chairman of the Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Branch of Shaanxi Province, and Director of the Nuclear Medicine Department of Xijing Hospital of the Air Force Military Medical University; Professor Yao Ming, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Jiaxing First Hospital; Vice President of the Nuclear Medicine Branch of the China National Health Association, Vice President of Pingmei Shenma General Hospital, Professor Dang International; Zhang Jianxing, Deputy Secretary-General of the Nuclear Medicine Branch of the Chinese National Health Association; Professor Zhang Weiqiang, Director of the Department of Nuclear Medicine of Jiaxing First Hospital, attended the event and delivered a speech. Professor Cheng Aiping, Director of the Department of Nuclear Medicine, Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital; Professor Yang Weidong, Deputy Director of the Department of Nuclear Medicine, Xijing Hospital, Air Force Medical University; Professor Wang Guocheng, an expert of the Special Committee of the Nuclear Medicine Branch of the Chinese National Health Association, served as the keynote speaker of this training activity. Ding Baoqiang, Chief Engineer of Repair Ruipai Medical and Expert of the Special Committee of the Nuclear Medicine Branch of the China National Health Association; Luo Lixiao, head of the medical physicist (nuclear medicine) training base; Pengliang Sun, Medical Technology Director of Repair, served as the keynote teacher for this training activity.
The training content combines theoretical training, practical exercises, expert seminars and false film sharing and other diversified course forms, with strong practicability, the trainees not only improve their own knowledge system, but also improve their practical ability, have a deeper understanding of the industry, and achieve training results beyond expectations.
During the opening ceremony, Professor Yang Weidong, Deputy Secretary-General of the Nuclear Medicine Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and Deputy Director of the Department of Nuclear Medicine of Xijing Hospital Affiliated to the Air Force Military Medical University, explained the "Evaluation of the Safety and Effectiveness of Radionuclide Therapy".
In China, medical physicists have only been given attention in recent years. "How to become a qualified medical physicist" is still a question on the minds of most students. Director Cheng Aiping brought us her answers. She vividly illustrated the importance of physicists in the medical field based on specific cases, and clearly explained the job responsibilities, work content and knowledge and skills required by physicists, pointing out the direction for the career planning of students.
Sun Pengliang, Medical Technology Director of Repair, brought a wonderful artifact reading to the students, with the theme of "Nuclear Medicine Image Quality Problems and Causes Analysis". Director Sun introduced the common causes of nuclear medicine image quality problems, such as instrument failure, operation errors, patient factors, etc., and demonstrated to the trainees how to use image quality control methods to troubleshoot and solve problems through practical cases.
Mr. Wang Guocheng explained to the students the positioning of the nuclear medicine department, the discipline planning, the construction process, the basic knowledge of radiation and the commonly used protective materials and equipment. He also explained in detail the current laws and regulations related to nuclear medicine, as well as the requirements of the infrastructure construction of nuclear medicine departments, and analyzed the key points and difficulties in the implementation of the construction. Combined with the specific cases of a number of hospitals, the trainees have a deeper understanding of the importance of radiation protection for the nuclear medicine department.
Practical exercises to strengthen capabilities
Any theory needs to be sharpened and brought into play in practice. The focus of physicist training is to provide practical teaching so that students can understand and master these theoretical knowledge through practice. Therefore, Chief Engineer Ding Baoqiang led the trainees to conduct practical demonstrations of PET resolution testing, PET sensitivity testing, CT quality control, and PET QC, and also allowed the students to experience the point source of PET resolution detection and the line source preparation process of PET sensitivity detection. Make the training content closer to reality and more practical.
In the on-site practical operation, each student participated enthusiastically, and was able to communicate with the lecturer or companion in time when they encountered problems they did not understand, so as to find the problem and find the solution, so that the theoretical knowledge was verified and applied in practice, and the students' understanding and mastery of PET technology were further enhanced.
